Book Title: THE SACRIFICE BY Kathleen Benner Duble

---PART I---

REFLECT- I never expect that this thing would really happen in real life. It was really hard to accuse someone without any corresponding proofs to be shown in the tribunal. It was unreasonable to directly accuse someone whom you know were innocent ones. Abigail and Dorothy were accused that they are one of those persons who possesses evil contacts. These children sent to imprison because that what the town’s villagers believe that they are really one of them. I know that it was hard for them to fight for their right especially when the magistrate and the people do not really care about your side. But their faith, honesty and courage led their way to liberty as they step up to life that they are innocent children.

CONNECT- This story reminds me of the novel The Sacrifice because when I was in high school, I was accused of doing such thing as vandalism inside the girl’s comfort room. I was devastated with the misinformation they have had because it was not I who made it. The most painful part is the one who accused me, my very own friend. Like Abigail and Dorothy, they were accused by their childhood friend named Sarah. Like them, it is hard to accept things when you know it is not that thing you wanted to happen.

QUESTION- I wonder why Sarah Phelps accused the sisters that they are one of those in contact with the devil? Is there something that she is hiding of? I also could not find any reason for arresting those women in the jail? Does this judicial officer really know of their unkindness concern when speaking of the rights of each individual? I do not think that these officers in the Salem are doing righteous treatment to those prisoners. And to think, they must be the good example in the town but it seems that they are the one who makes evil acquaintances to people.

PREDICTION- I think Hannah, the pregnant mother of Dorothy and Abigail, will be freed from those untruth accusations. I think that the baby will be the reason of liberty and peace of the Salem town. Abigail and Dorothy will do their duty as good daughters of their family and good sisters to their brothers.

---PART II---

I was really shock after I have read the novel The Sacrifice. I never imagined that these things would really happen in real life. I wonder where this witchcraft came from. I really do not understand why it is existing so badly. I do not know, but I am scared about these stuffs right now. Is it real that even minors are unrestricted to go to jail? But how do they do that? In a way of being accused without paying any cost? Does the magistrate are doing their job because they are in the high officials or doing their evil job because they are tempted to do so?

According to the author, this novel is really happening in the town of Salem, known as Salem, Massachusetts. In one chapter of the book, the author mentioned how magistrate do their duty for the sake of money, and the fact that they should be the one who roles the people in a good way. I felt that this events should not be existed just to stump others dignity.

Other thing, do witches exists? Well, in this case I cannot tell but if we refer in the information that the author has given. I think it is true. It was based on her experience in the Salem, Massachusetts, her great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother’s home town. Here, she, Abigail Faulkner, experienced the unrighteous of being accused in such case that is not reliable. She experienced to put in imprison for a wickedness she has not done. I felt the feeling while I reading the story, is the injustice of each victim in the case that they did not do.
